On July 31 2008 I hired a taillift van from Golds
Vehicle Rentals Limited (trading as GOLDS VEHICLE RENTALS or GOLDS CAR AND VAN HIRE) in Cannock, Staffordshire.
It was such an unpleasant experience that I have chosen to
let others know what they may be letting themselves in for if you
decide to use this company.
First of all the van was poor and
unreliable, it overheated twice and I had to stop to let it cool down,
and the windscreen wipers stuck on and could not turn off.
My
main problem however was the service, which was
awful. Specifically, they pretty much tricked me into leaving my
car keys with
them (so they could move my car around the car park ???), which on
reflection I think was a lie as they were actually using my car as
"security" in additon to my deposit. Even though I
specifically told them I would be returning the van late, and after
hours, they still wanted to take my car keys and said I could call them
to arrange the collect the keys if I was late. When I did
call, as requsted in the afternoon, they said that my keys would be
left with the
adjacent garage. What they didnt say however, was that the
garage closed early! So, when I got there after a long day,
the garage was closed, Golds car hire was closed, and I could not get
my car back. I therefore had to take the van home.
The following morning they refused to collect the van and return
my car, which cost me an hour of my time. They were
rude, the service was shocking, and their final words, from a Director
of this company were "[my concerns about the poor service were] a lot of
bo***cks"
If you are
looking to hire a vehicle from Golds car hire, then you may
find it beneficial to look elsewhere for a reliable vehicle and try one
of these companies who may treat you properly as a paying customer and
hire you a roadworthy vehicle:
